ESL and COMPUTER SCHOOL

GOGA constructed and now operates an English as a Second Language school for low-income families.  For those who cannot afford tuition, fees are waived.  Grace of God Academies enjoys full classrooms of both children and adult learners from 8am-8pm.

Computer and English literacy skills taught at The Grace of God Academies also enrich vocation-specific service providers such as local police, restaurant workers, transportation drivers, and others involved in the tourism industry.

EMPLOYING LOCALS

Residents have been hired at all stages of our projects.  Local laborers, masons, plumbers, welders and artists all participated in the construction and completion of the Grace of God Academy in Puerto San José. Local teachers prepare curriculum and instruction.  Additionally, during beach and canal cleanup days, local cooks are hired for communal meals.

Throughout the lifetime of the Grace of God Academy, we aim to employ, empower and encourage residents to thrive financially by providing employment opportunities.

BE MY FRIEND

Through the Be My Friend program, donors have the opportunity to directly support the Grace of God Academies school and form an personal connection with an individual student as they learn and grow.

With enough donors, the Be My Friend program can fully support the needs of GOGA Guatemala, ensuring that students will have access to an enriching education.

CLEAN DRINKING WATER

The people of Puerto San José, Guatemala have a lack of access to potable water. Often parents are forced to make the difficult decision of either buying bottled water or educating their children. GOGA is making a difference by providing a water purification station where families can collect drinking water. We are in the final stages of receiving an approval stamp that will enable us to sell discounted drinking water.  All proceeds from sales support school expenses;  We want to provide opportunities for clean drinking water and education to everyone!

WILDLIFE PRESERVE

Juan Carlos, certified tour guide of Guatemala, and founder Andy Moir hope to one day acquire 50 acres of land to establish a wildlife sanctuary. Our goal is to clean the beautiful mangroves as well as protect the exotic wildlife that makes Guatemala such an amazing and unique tourist destination. Grace of God Academy plans to use proceeds from wildlife tourism to further fund the community effort of education and clean drinking water.
