ABOUT US

Giving back to the community of Puerto San José became important to Andy Moir after hosting industry clients on several deep sea fishing trips to Guatemala. In January of 2014 the first Grace of God Academies (GOGA) school in Puerto San Jose was established, and the GOGA fund was approved to operate under the Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation 501 (c) (3).

We take a holistic approach to building healthy communities by providing access to affordable ESL education, computer literacy training, clean drinking water, and promotion of a clean environment.  GOGA is a non-denominational humanitarian outreach, seeking to expand organically and sustainably.

A Message from the Founder

As I have grown older I have come to realize that American society teaches us that the most important lifetime goal is to retire as early as possible, and “enjoy” life.  But even with comfortable financial positions, the reality of retirement is that many people struggle with purpose in their lives.  I once read a book, Man’s Search for Meaning, wherein described the dire condition of prisoners in a Nazi concentration camp.  Viktor Frankl, the author, observed that many prisoners survived because they focused on their purpose in life, even while barely existing.

I have found the most gratifying aspect of life is in giving, not in receiving.  And I want to live this latter part of my life with the purpose:  Live to Give.  Please join me in helping not only the people of Guatemala to realize their dreams, but also to enrich the purpose in your life.  The world has taught us to store up treasure on Earth; but earthly treasures do not bring personal fulfillment. The Truth is that everlasting treasure, joy, peace and love, comes with helping others.

With Love and Peace,

Andy

OUR STAFF

"Education is the Engine of Personal Development"

Grace of God Academies is orchestrated by Andy Moir, President and CEO of the organization. Lisa Moir administrates accounting and Donor Services, Stacy Hall assists in marketing efforts and Matt Moir raises funds.  On location in Puerto San Jose, Juan Carlos Santos and his team administrate the school locally. Our humble team is small, but our impact is mighty.

GOGA is proud to operate with minimal administration expenses. Donations go straight to where it matters- access to education, clean water and environmental programs.
